Lautoka City Council today hosted representatives from Japan International Cooperation Agency (Mrs Naoka Kitazawa and Ms Leanne Suliano) and held fruitful discussions aimed at bolstering disaster risk assessment and disaster risk management in Western Division. The visit was coordinated by NDMO office to hold stakeholder consultations in regards to 4-year Technical Cooperation Project with JICA aimed at mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) across all development sectors.

The consultations helped JICA consultants to collate crucial information that will help in formulating Western Divisional Disaster Risk Reduction Plan that will identify areas that are at risk from natural and man-made hazards and the formulation of appropriate measures to address these risks.
